In Canada , Real Estate has three levels, much like the Canadian government. At the local level is the real estate board; each province and territory has an association, in Ontario this is the Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO); and the national perspective is the mandate of the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA).
The Ottawa Real Estate Board, (OREB) operates a Multiple Listing Service® system that in turn, provides data for display on either mls.ca (for residential real estate) or icx.ca (for commercial real estate). OREB is a trade association of over 200 registered brokers and salespeople. The board develops and implements the regulations that support CREA’s national policies, and is responsible for the enforcement of the Code of Ethics and the Standards of Business Practice.
The public can visit the Board website by going to www.oreb.ca. There is plenty of information here to help buyers and sellers. Whether you are working with a Realtor or not, this site has search options for buyers, calculators for buyers and sellers, links to tons of information about the city, school areas, home inspectors, lawyers. All the information someone would need when starting the buying and selling process. To find out more about what oreb.ca has to offer you click on the different links below. Each link will explain in detail how to navigate through all your options.
